Why Join? 5 Reasons
- It has streamlined data you can use. The Echo Press Database has a streamlined dataset tailored to organizers and activists in California. The thousands of contacts in the database are local reporters who cover your important issue areas (like criminal justice, education, health, environmental justice and more!) The database also features hundreds of youth, alternative and ethnic media contacts.
- It comes with helpful tips and tools. The database comes with helpful tips like how to write press releases, how to pitch to reporters, and how to respond to coverage. You can also print press lists, media sign in sheets, and phone banking sheets as well as upload your press release and press coverage.
- You can get the inside scoop on reporters. Database users can facilitate relationship building with reporters by posting and sharing comments that only other registered users can see.
- It is community-driven and owned by a grassroots non-profit. This database allows information-sharing to build grassroots power, not to build marketing profits. You can rest assured your information will never be sold to corporations.
- It helps organizers collectively break the media access barrier. Our media work suffers when we’re not targeting the right reporters, and when we don’t even have the basic information to contact the right reporters. By subscribing to the Echo Press Database, you are joining a network of organizers sharing access information for justice. You can share media contacts, tips and coverage, and be the first to learn about public events for building relationships between organizers and reporters in California.
